Jackelyn Lopez
To become a great writer and finishing her education is Jackelyn Lopez’s dream and passion. Coming from a single parent home, Jackelyn has had to struggle through challenges that have made her stronger. Her brother and guardian joined the military branch of the United States Navy in order to save money so she could attend college. Unfortunately, due to the economy, the money was not available. Her mother, who is an employee at RHCC serving as the Ladies Locker Room Attendent/Hostess, does not receive any help from her father who lives with and supports another family. Jackelyn also has the responsibility of raising her two cousins when her aunt and uncle come home from work. These obstacles have ignited her passion and inspire her to reach her goals. This scholarship will help her reach that dream.

She has excelled by doing well in school, both scholastically and by way of her extra-curricular activities including athletics. She has also worked after school. Her mother who has remained a rock throughout her life does not make enough money to send her daughter to college. This scholarship will not only make this dream a reality but will give Kristina the opportunity to become educated in the biomedical field. She would love to attend the University of California Los Angeles.

He has volunteered effortlessly through church and community organizations and has helped his mom’s training consultant business. His family acquired a set back a few years ago when his mother delivered a stillborn baby. Unable to cope, his mother, until recently, was unable to contribute to the family.
